As enterprises and service providers increasingly rely on remote access tools for managing infrastructure, the need for secure, resilient, and isolated out-of-band (OOB) management channels has become critical. This paper makes the case for using a private cellular Access Point Name (APN) instead of the public internet for OOB management. We examine the security, reliability, and operational advantages of a private APN approach, contrasting it with the vulnerabilities and unpredictability of using public IP-based access over commercial LTE/5G networks.
